However, the surface of some architectural aluminum profiles will be corroded. This is mainly due to the incorrect proportion of materials used in the processing and manufacturing of architectural aluminum profiles.

1. In the process of melting and casting, the addition ratio of magnesium and silicon is not appropriate. For example, there is some excess silicon, which will form ternary compounds in aluminum alloy at the same time except for a small amount of silicon in the free state. These insoluble impurity phases or free impurity phases formed in the alloy tend to gather on the grain boundary, and weaken the strength and toughness of the grain boundary at the same time, and become the weakest link with the worst corrosion resistance, where corrosion occurs first.

2. In the smelting process, although the proportion of magnesium and silicon added is within the range specified in the standard, the distribution of silicon in the melt is uneven sometimes due to uneven and inadequate mixing, and there are locally rich and poor areas. It is directly reflected in architectural aluminum profiles. When there is a small amount of free silicon in aluminum matrix, the corrosion resistance of the alloy is reduced, and the grain of the alloy is coarsened.

3. Extrusion process parameters control, such as bar preheating temperature is too high, metal extrusion flow rate, extrusion air cooling strength, aging temperature and holding time control are easy to produce silicon segregation and free, so that magnesium and silicon do not completely become Mg₂Si phase, and there are some free silicon.

In short, if the surface of architectural aluminum profiles is easy to corrod in use, it is also caused by the low quality standard of architectural aluminum profiles in production. Therefore, we should go to regular manufacturers when choosing architectural aluminum profiles, so that the architectural aluminum profiles can be more guaranteed.
